Unipart Aftermarket Logistics has won the British Safety Council’s International Safety Award for its outstanding contribution in setting world class approaches to health and safety in the transport, distribution and motor trade sector.
In addition, Unipart achieved two ‘distinctions’ — the top rating in the 2014 awards — placing them amongst the best in the world for workplace safety. The Unipart sites evaluated were Nuneaton, Magna Park, two locations in Baginton, Burton on Trent, Cowley, Honeybourne and two sites at Tamworth.
These prestigious awards recognise organisations across the world that have demonstrated a proven commitment to outstanding workplace safety and the well-being of its employees. This year 521 companies from around the world, across a range of sectors, were recognised in this year’s awards with only 43 achieving a distinction.
Announcing the results, Lynda Armstrong OBE, Chair of Trustees of the British Safety Council, said “On behalf of the British Safety Council I warmly congratulate all the winning organisations and their employees on the ongoing commitment and dedication that they have shown in placing health and safety at the forefront of their organisations.
To be one of the top eight percent of organisations that have achieved a distinction in the International Safety Award demonstrates Unipart’s focus on the well-being of its employees, and its commitment to having world class safety standards, and shows how this commitment contributes to business success.
Armstrong went on to add: “Winning the Transport, Distribution and Motor Trade Sector Award is testament to Unipart’s determined and structured approach to maintaining the highest standards possible in a challenging and rapidly expanding sector. We look forward to working with Unipart in the future to help share best practices across the sector.”
Commenting on the award, Frank Burns, Managing Director of Unipart Logistics said:
“These awards demonstrate Unipart’s continued and dedicated commitment to the highest standards of health and safety, and shows both our existing and potential clients that maintaining world class operations and ensuring the safety of our employees is non-negotiable and goes hand in hand with business effectiveness.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our employees at the winning sites for ensuring that health and safety has the highest priority. This fantastic achievement marks them out as amongst the best in the world for our approach to health and safety, and is an award of which we should be very proud.”
