Unipart raised more than £36,000 for local charities around the world as part of its Big Charity Challenge in November.
The Big Charity Challenge sees Unipart employees engage in a week of focused fundraising, with each site choosing a local charity to benefit.
A wide range of activities and initiatives were run, including bake sales, bike rides, and sports competitions. The variety of events put on reflected the diversity of the Unipart workforce, with thousands of employees from all levels getting involved on each day of the challenge.
Through great enthusiasm, generosity and commitment local teams raised more than £20,000 for their chosen charities, with Unipart central charity fund donation matching adding a further £16,000.
The site with the highest fundraising total in this year’s Big Charity Challenge was the Unipart Logistics team in China that raised £3,493.61 for the Gypsophila Charity Library. This staggering final total will make an immeasurable difference to the local community.
Six more sites also also raised more than £1,000 for their chosen charity, which were:
- Unipart Logistics – JCB for Dougie Mac
- Unipart Logistics – Broughton and Filton for KidsBank
- Unipart Logistics – NHS Supply Chain Rugby for Macmillan Cancer Support
- Unipart Logistics – Cowley for Oxfordshire Mind
- Unipart Logistics – Baginton A for Leicester Oncology Ward
- Unipart Technologies Group for The Children’s Hospital Charity (Sheffield).
Darren Leigh, Unipart Chief Executive Officer, said: “The incredible sum of money raised demonstrates the immense power of The Unipart Way, the way we think, work and behave to bring the greatest benefit to our stakeholders.
“Unipart employees are the heart and soul of the company, and with this fundraising campaign they can give back to those in their communities that need it the most. More than 25 different causes will benefit and be supported in their missions, whether it be conducting ground-breaking research, providing vital medical and educational equipment, or simply offering emotional support.
“Unipart looks forward to continuing to support and champion vital local causes, and build on the strong relationships created during this year’s highly successful Big Charity Challenge.”
