Unipart Big Charity Challenge 2024

October 2024 – Unipart’s annual Big Charity Challenge will see Unipart teams around the world engage in focused fundraising for local charities voted for by colleagues in the week commencing 14 October.

Colleagues at all levels will take part in a wide range of fun and engaging fundraising activities, including bake sales, darts tournaments, and bingo, all in a bid to raise as much money as possible for those most in need.

In celebration of Unipart’s 50th anniversary this year, the Unipart Executive Leadership Team (ELT) will be celebrating with their teams and communities through a ‘Walk & Talk 500 Miles Challenge’ to raise money for mental health charity Mind.

All 11 ELT members have committed to walking at least 500 miles throughout the week with colleagues, repurposing internal team meetings with a walk and talk to highlight the importance of looking after wellbeing, and to protect local environments by picking up litter on the way. Last year the Unipart Big Charity Challenge raised more than £36,000 for charities such as the Gypsophila Charity Library in China, Oxfordshire Mind in Cowley, and The Children’s Hospital Charity in Sheffield.

The success of last year’s challenge nurtured strong relationships between Unipart sites and their chosen charities, so a number of sites have selected the same charity again for 2024. Unipart’s Baginton site in Coventry will once again be raising money for Leicester Oncology Ward in memory of a colleague who lost his life in 2022.

Unipart Chief Executive Officer Darren Leigh said: “We’re delighted to be running our annual Big Charity Challenge again for 2024. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to give back to our communities by selecting charities local to our sites as the focus for our fundraising and adding the most value for our stakeholders, which is central to our culture enshrined in The Unipart Way.

“I look forward to seeing the exciting events put on by our sites around the world, and I can’t wait to get to know my colleagues even better as we embark on our Walk & Talk 500 to demonstrate the importance of talking and exercising for our mental health.”
