February 2025 – Lewis says his ‘incredibly rewarding’ Unipart apprenticeship has enabled him to apply what he has learnt and grow personally and professionally.
Lewis Talbot, Project Manager at Unipart company Park Signalling, is currently completing his Level 6 Project Management Degree Apprenticeship through Northumbria University. This four-year programme based at Unipart will award Lewis a Bachelor of Science in Project Management.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to apply what I’ve learnt in real time, and understand how my studies directly impact my role and contribute to the bigger picture within Unipart,” Lewis said. “The personal gratification that comes from not only improving your academic knowledge but also enhancing your skills and confidence in your role is invaluable.”
The apprenticeship’s flexible and practical structure ensures each module builds on the core principles of project management that directly align with Lewis’ day-to-day work at Park Signalling. He explained: “This seamless integration between academic learning and real-world application has ensured that my studies enhance my performance at work and vice versa.
“I can confidently say that my experience has been overwhelmingly positive, with the support from my academic cohort and Unipart colleagues being invaluable. I’ve been given a balance between gaining practical experience in the workplace and advancing my education, ultimately providing me with a clear pathway into professional life.”
This is Lewis’ second apprenticeship at Unipart, having already achieved his Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship in 2020. Expecting to complete this one in March 2026, Lewis is looking forward to taking his personal and professional development even further. He said: “The reality of finishing this academic journey is beginning to sink in. I’m determined to excel in this degree apprenticeship, not only to meet my own aspirations, but also to make my managers and Unipart proud.
“However, I don’t see this as the end of my academic learning. As my current apprenticeship concludes, I will definitely explore opportunities for further education and professional development to continue advancing my knowledge and skills.”
