To mark a special Armistice Day 11/11/11 and raise money for Help for Heroes, the charity that supports the many men and women wounded serving their country since 9/11, members of the Unipart Technology Logistics operating committee walked 147 miles, and raised over £33,000 for the charity in the process.
The Walk for Heroes team led by Managing Director Claire Walters left the Cenotaph War Memorial in Central London on Wednesday 9th November and walked along the Grand Union Canal route for four and a half days, and, spurred on by many supporters along the way, including Hero the Military Bear, arrived at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Remembrance Sunday.
The team were joined by Sky’s David Picton for the entire event and by walkers from across UTL for the ‘One Day Challenge’ on Armistice Day.
Several volunteers joined the walkers near Milton Keynes and by the time they finished 12 hours later near Warwick had clocked up a remarkable 34 miles.
