Unipart donates £4,550 to Dougie Mac

During Unipart’s Big Charity Challenge 2023 the Unipart teams at JCB World Logistics, JCB Cheadle, JCB Rocester, and JCB Beamhurst raised £2,335 for chosen local charity Dougie Mac.

These Unipart sites selected Dougie Mac as their chosen charity in recognition of its crucial role in the community.

Dougie Mac provides hospice services free of charge to people of all ages living with life-limiting illnesses, in Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffordshire and the surrounding villages. Their team of dedicated staff and volunteers are vital to the care they provide, working to create a warm and peaceful environment at the hospice or in a family’s home.

The site raised £2,335 during the week of the challenge, with Unipart’s central charity fund donation matching taking the total to £4,550.

Gemma Powell, JCB’s Big Charity Challenge site lead, said: “At JCB we wanted to ensure our colleagues were feeling engaged, and the Big Charity Challenge provided a great opportunity to do that, bringing everyone together with a shared goal of raising money for a great cause. Seeing colleagues getting involved in activities that we had planned around the site was heartwarming and it provided great engagement from all across the contract.

“At World Logistics we had a bake sale and a darts tournament, and in the warehouse we ran a coin toss game, all of which raised a lot of money thanks to the colleagues that took part.

“Colleagues in Rocester, Cheadle, and Beamhurst dressed up for halloween and gave tricks or treats, and the JCB contract as a whole took part in a raffle, which had some great prizes and was a big success. We then got the chance to present Dougie Mac with their cheque which was a very proud moment for us all.”

Paula Jackson, Issue Resolution Team JCB World Logistics, spoke to the importance of Dougie Mac in the community: “They provide a fantastic service in supporting our loved ones in their hour of need. Personally my grandad was supported by amazing nurses and carers in his home right up until he passed away. They supported our whole family and provided comfort at a time we needed.

“To me, the people who do these jobs really need to know how much they are appreciated, so by donating to this charity hopefully will go a little way in showing them that they are.”

Unipart’s significant donation will help Dougie Mac in their goal to continue expanding and improving their services to the benefit of the local community.

Unipart is incredibly proud to show this support and looks forward to even more exciting fundraising events in 2024.
