Unipart had won an Environmental Management Excellence award demonstrating that environmental considerations played a key role in our strategy. The company wanted to install ‘intelligent low-energy’ lighting in their warehouses to reduce energy consumption. We decided the property at Cowley should be the first as it’s their largest UK warehouse and could provide cost benefits within a year of installation.
Barclays introduced their Asset Finance specialists and together we explored the options available to fund the capital expenditure. They quickly agreed on a suitable Green Loan facility that would allow Unipart to install the low-energy LED lighting.
Not only did this product meet the objective of offering simple access to funding, it also has the added benefit of providing official ‘green’ accreditation, fitting in with Unipart’s focus on productivity and waste reduction.
