Mobis, the parts operation of Kia and Hyundai cars, has extended its contract with Unipart Logistics.
The operation, which is based at Unipart’s Tamworth Distribution Centre, dispatches parts and accessories to around 350 UK dealers. The Unipart team also provides service kits for dealers and carries out reverse logistics operations. Tamworth is responsible for all right-hand drive markets around the world, apart from Australia.
According to Robert Coles, Operations Manager for Mobis UK, the major benefit of having Unipart as a strategic partner comes from Unipart’s wealth of knowledge, understanding and experience of automotive logistics.
“This is much more than a transactional relationship,” said Coles. “Unipart people are committed to becoming a key part of their customers’ organisation.
“While other companies will quote for time and motion, Unipart people will seek to understand their client’s business and how they can best support it, and then, based on their deep experience, come up with a solution that will enable both companies to grow together.
“The Unipart employees working at Tamworth seem very well informed. They are empowered, they have a voice and that makes the people-centric nature of the business very impressive.”
Mike Varnom, Managing Director of Unipart Aftermarket Logistics, commented: “Kia and Hyundai are rapidly growing brands in the UK market and we’re seeing a significant rise in the volumes that the team at Tamworth is handling.
“We’re very proud of our relationship with Mobis and the extension of this contract not only provides greater security for our people but also enables us to continue to work with a company that shares a similar vision and ethos to our own, and is clearly growing.”
