Environmental Sustainability Policy: January 2025
Unipart is a leading provider of supply chain solutions and performance improvement technologies, operating worldwide. We are committed to managing our business operations in a sustainable and environmentally sound manner, enabled by data capture, tracking and measurement and employing the latest in digital technologies to create complete operational transparency.
Our Commitments
We recognise that our business activities directly and indirectly impact on the environment so we commit to:
∙ Protecting the environment and preventing pollution by conserving natural resources, reducing our carbon footprint and waste produced.
∙ Fulfilling our legal compliance obligations and complying with other applicable requirements to which we subscribe.
∙ Continuously improve our environmental management system and enhance our environmental performance by applying our Unipart Way philosophy.
∙ Maintaining our ISO14001 certification through robust monitoring and review.
Environmental Objectives
Our environmental objectives listed below are regularly reviewed to ensure that our improvement programmes and actions effectively implement our environmental policy. They are:
∙ To tackle climate change by progressing against our target to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% by 2030 and absolute scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% by 2040 from a 2021 base year, verified by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi). This will include a range of decarbonisation measures including our continued commitment to renewable energy sources in our operations and managing our fleet as outlined in our Air Quality policy.
∙ To identify and measure the significant environmental impacts of our activities, set improvement targets, to monitor and publish progress against those targets to all our stakeholders and employees.
∙ To take appropriate steps to protect the environment and minimise our negative impacts throughout the lifecycle of our products and services, aligning to the ISO 14040 standard and incorporating a Circular Economic framework.
∙ To manage, minimise and report waste produced across our operations in accordance with the principles of the waste hierarchy and specifically reduce and eliminate single use plastics and paper from our business operations.
∙ To monitor and report on re-use and repair to maximise the lifecycle of consumables and other assets.
∙ To manage, minimise and report on water consumption across our operations.
∙ To encourage and enhance biodiversity on our sites and aim for net gain where possible.
∙ Use Environmental Management Systems to ensure standard processes are in place to manage the environment.
∙ To work with all interested parties and collaborate on environmental issues.
∙ To implement sustainable procurement practices whilst working towards ISO 20400 certification, embedding a lifecycle perspective to fully understand the impacts throughout the value chain and encourage environmental protection amongst our suppliers and subcontractors.
∙ To ensure that employees are aware of and engage in environmental issues relevant to their activities and have a level of knowledge and understanding appropriate to their environmental responsibilities, such that they can contribute to solving problems and make a difference in their role.
∙ To introduce suitable arrangements to allow for communication to all persons who work for, or on behalf of the organisation, including public reporting of our environmental performance.
∙ To conduct a bi-annual review of our objectives, targets and performance to ensure these are still in line with progress and the changing social, political and technology landscapes and update this policy accordingly.
This policy will be communicated to all staff, contractors and suppliers and available to the public on Unipart.com
